The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is creating new opportunities and providing competitive advantages for companies who engage with new technologies in current and new markets. The IoT is the process of creating new way to connect different tools, production environments, production workers and products through digital technologies (smart technologies). Smarter tools and objects are changing the business and production scenario. These recent tech developments allow companies to organize large amounts of data into structured components that can be processed by computers very quickly. In order to achieve this goal, there is an ever growing need for data analysis with artificial intelligence while the combination of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and blockchain is part of the fundations of the fourth industrial revolution.

Centralized IoT

Current IoT ecosystems are based on centralized communication models. This means that any interaction between devices must be processed by a central database even if they are located next to each other.

Although this model links several IT devices and is able to support small-scale IoT networks, it will not be able to respond to the growing demands of tomorrow’s huge IoT ecosystems. Centralized and traditional cloud-based solutions will result in unsustainably high infrastructure and maintenance costs.

Furthermore, the vast array of manufacturers of devices and of related supporting cloud infrastructures makes machine-to-machine (M2M) communications hard. There is no single platform that connects all devices, therefore cloud services offered by different manufacturers could not be compatible. In addition, with the expansion of these new technological developments the threat of vulnerability of traditional infrastructures is becoming more and more significant, bringing serious abnormal arrests and failures of the network system that support the IoT ecosystems.

IoT and Blockchain

A IoT networking decentralized approach would solve many of the critical issues indicated. The adoption of a standardized peer-to-peer communication model able to process the multitude of transactions between the various systems will significantly reduce the the installation and maintenance costs of large centralized data centers and will distribute the computing and archiving needs on numerous devices. Furthermore, the creation of decentralized communications will grant a higher security level to protect sensitive data.

The use of the blockchain will enable building of intelligent self-contained devices able to exchange data. This kind of autonomy is possible because the blockchain network nodes will check the transaction validity without relying on a centralized authority.

As a result, the blockchain will lead to many IoT scenarios that were previously remarkably difficult or even impossible to implement.

We can easily imagine a near future in which this technology will drive toa sharing economy for Internet of Things (IoT) devices in a decentralized and energy-efficient environment, while producing a large amount of valuable data that could be useful for the development of the AI and while the users will be rewarded for providing this data.

Scrypta IoT

Scrypta’s Blockchain can be used to track a countless of connected devices, allowing to process resulting data transactions and to coordinate different physical devices. Scrypta represents the missing link to solve problems of scalability, privacy and reliability in the IoT.

Scrypta IoT will be developed as an operating system that uses the notion of blockchain, allowing data to be stored and archived in a decentralized way and providing protection thanks to the combined force of network nodes. In fact, the solution proposed by Scrypta will keep the privacy and security in the IoT networks offering forms of validation and consensus to the transactions.

In this scenario example, we imagine intelligent devices in a production plant that can place repair orders of some their parts without needing human or centralized interventions. Likewise, intelligent vehicles in a fleet of trucks will be able to provide a complete report of the most important parts that would need replacement after their arrival at the workshop. Differently, we can detect a sensor from afar, communicating directly with the irrigation system to control the flow of water according to the conditions detected on the crops.

Scrypta remove cumbersome and expensive subscription models. We envisage a new model in which micro-transaction payments will be paid selling own data to anyone who would be considered suitable. Individuals and machines will pay for what they consume and when they consume it. Moving to a market where consumers would pay for use rather than pay for property, producers will be encouraged to make their products longer lasting and easily recyclable.

The implementation of this technology is not just an abstract concept, it will bring incredibly innovative real applications in the near future: Scrypta’s blockchain wants to be its key application.
